Staying Young
I love fly fishing. Well, I REALLY love fly fishing. I actually adore fly fishing. I think you get this point.
I can get up early, grab my rod and take off. Sometimes I hike to my favorite destination, and wade in the beautiful crystal-clear water. Sometimes I will take a boat and just sit back and enjoy the perfect landscape that God has offered me. Either way I am blessed watching the Bald Eagles, Heron, Egrets, Owls all going on with life... and flora that takes your breath away.
It’s an added bonus that I am getting exercise! Sometimes standing all day, some hikes are rigorous, angling those fish in just right takes time and strength. And the fresh air! I can’t think of a better way to get away from the troubles we are all experiencing.
Let's face it. There are not a lot of things in this world right now that brings much happiness. Turning on the news can be devastating and depressing. We are in the middle of a pandemic that flared its ugly head, just as we thought it was over. News from the Middle East is sickening at best. Families being ripped apart and worse, in front of our eyes.
What do you love? What hobbies or interest bring happiness in your life? Keeping healthy is also filling your life with things that bring you happiness. Hiking and enjoying the outdoors is a cheap and fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Take your family bowling or to a movie. Golf? Swimming? A nice romantic dinner? Whatever it is, take time to do it. Especially now.
The best ways for a healthy person to reverse the aging progress and extend your life span is to keep moving and to keep active. Also, have some meaning in your life. What I find extremely helpful, is not to think of yourself as an age. Don’t let the child in you die. Seeing things through the child's eyes makes life interesting, humorous and keeps you young.
Go out there and have a blast!
Stay healthy! xoxo Melinda
